My thoughts on vocaloid covers
"Miku, Miku, you can call me Miku!" -Miku probably
Recently I've been listening to a lot of vocaloid covers recently (yeah I know, SHOCKING! Who would ever imagine I'd listen to a bunch of robots singing?) I've always kept the fact that I listened to vocaloid covers a secret from most people as I always had the fear of being made fun of for that, especially back in highschool... but I think people were already making fun of me already without me even knowing because I was the president of the anime club after all, but I think it's important to still remain faithful to the things we're passionate about, even if it's not liked by everyone. As you can probably tell, I also have an anime profile picture for this blog and all my other social media accounts so that already yells out the words, "this user is a weeb" without me having to say it verbally LOL! Anyways let's move onto the main point of what I wanted to be yapping about today.
Side note: Vocaloid is a singing voice synthesis software developed by Yamaha that allows users to create vocals by typing lyrics and inputting melodies, essentially acting as a digital instrument.
My thoughts on vocaloid covers
With full honesty, when I first heard a vocaloid cover I couldn't understand what was so special about it. Especially when the songs weren't being sung by a real person. That would all change later on as soon as I soon learnt more about Miku's history and why she became so popular, as Miku is not just some robot singing but carries the role of every songwriter's voice. Miku and other vocaloids are the reason as to why people are able to turn their creative works into a reality for those who aren't able to sing, and at the same time they help unite the world. Now of course, not everyone is going to appreciate vocaloid covers but I believe it's important for people to respect those who do rather than shaming them or making fun of them for what they like. I'm not so sure what people think about vocaloids now in 2026 but despite what people think about them, I'm going to continue listening to those vocaloid covers! Especially the ones from Miku and Kaito in particular. :)
Some of my favorite vocaloid covers
So, what are some of my favorite vocaloid covers you might ask? I actually have a lot, but to keep things short and simple, I'll just make a list of all the covers I listen too.
- Hatsune Miku, KAITO - Ohedo Julia-Night
- 【KAITO】- Snowman
- KAITO V1 - 少女レイ / 소녀레이 [vocaloid cover]
- FLOWER TAIL [KAITO][english sub]
- KAITO V1 - まにまに / 뜻대로 [vocaloid cover]
- Miku by Anamanaguchi (Lyrics Video)
- KAITO & MEIKO - A Pair of Wintry Winds (番凩) || Hatsune Miku LAWSON 50th Anniversary Special LIVE
- Machine Love (feat. Kasane Teto)
- [KAITO] A Thousand-Year Solo [English&Romaji Sub][Vocaloid] 千年の独奏歌
- Blessing | w/Lyrics {Request} [Kagamine Rin/Len • Hatsune Miku • Megurine Luka • MEIKO • KAITO]
If I had the opportunity to attend a vocaloid concert, I would gladly do so. Also it's only now that I realize I've been listening to mostly Kaito covers. And yes, my Youtube playlist has most of his covers in it because he's one of my favorite vocaloids! (I still can't determine if Miku is my what I'd rank as my number 1 favorite vocaloid or Kaito because I enjoy listening to both of them)
